Dolphin Days Paperback – by Charlotte Milne

Orphan MELISSA SCOTT-MACKENZIE, in her first job with a London antique dealer, is sent to a Greek island to buy a valuable medieval manuscript from an intermediary. She is young and artistic, but struggles with guilt over a family tragedy. The manuscript is stolen from Melissa and she hunts for it frantically. Seeing a clue by a moored yacht she searches the boat to retrieve it and to save her career. On board, Melissa discovers drugs as well as the book, but before she can escape, is discovered by the owner, NICHOLAS THAUROS, an attractive, embittered, wealthy architect. Nicholas assumes his estranged wife has employed Melissa to steal the book which he has just legally bought from the same dishonest intermediary. In anger, he sails for his island home, abducting a frightened Melissa, who believes him a thief and a drug dealer. Melissa’s assumption that he is the thief fades as he summons the police, charging her with trespass and theft and providing evidence that he bought the book. Melissa tries unsuccessfully to raise bail and her boss fires her for losing his money and acquisition.
